After surviving yesterday’s afternoon crash, I managed to get some work done, and we returned to our place later. I still ended up going to bed super late and slept well after 2 AM. But I’m proud to report that I didn’t cave and woke up at 6:15 AM anyway. With exactly four hours of sleep, I felt surprisingly okay.

I walked out to the balcony to see what we’d replaced our snowy mountain view with. I was ready to be a bit sad, but honestly, it wasn’t bad at all.

We went for a walk and jog by the lake afterwards, and the day was off to a good start. However, by the time I reached the office, I could feel a thin but sharp headache creeping in. It worsened as the day went on, but it was tolerable. I suppose this is where the golden rule really shines: waking up on time despite not getting enough sleep does have consequences. The suffering is a pretty effective reminder of the goal.

I had every intention of getting home early and sleeping myself into oblivion. Naturally, that didn’t happen. I ended up going to dinner with everyone from work. It was lovely. But by the time we finished, it was past 11. I still need to shower and get a few things sorted, so the dream of sleeping myself into oblivion will have to remain just that… a dream.
